| Evangelization through voice mail
New Delhi: In a first, evangelization will go mobile. From June 1, Vodafone subscribers can listen to the Word of God on voice mail.
What can be better than preaching the Word of God in this modern world with the help of the fastest growing electronic gadget - mobile phone? This innovative idea has come up based on the fact that a mobile phone has become a highly personal medium giving constant company to a good number of people.
Keeping the nature of this personal medium in mind, the Director of Media Commission of the Archdiocese of Delhi, Fr. John Paul Herman SVD first started preparing the content based on the Word of God in text form for the use of SMS for a private service provider company, 'LiveM'.
LiveM has already launched this service and now three big mobile companies –Reliance, BSNL and Vodafone, has come forward to launch the similar service in audio form for the voice mail service in all over India.
This Word of God service will be available from June 1 onwards. Under this service, subscribers will be able to listen to the readings of the day including responsorial psalm. Besides the readings there will be prayer for the day, saints of the day, Novena and Rosary prayers. Anyone can acquire this service by simply subscribing to it. The day-to-day contents for this service will be prepared by the youth and other parishners of Delhi archdiocese.
Another SVD missionary or popularly known as Divine Word missionary, Fr. Norbert Herman, will be part of this innovative project. Fr. Norbert, an accomplished artiste, will lend his voice in the Hindi category of the project. For the English category, the mobile companies have roped in a young girl named Jacquline Anthony from Okhla parish and another young catholic girl named Garima Benjamin (a Pakistani catholic girl now settled in Delhi) from Janakpuri parish together with Master Joseph (a retired teacher) from Okhla parish are assisting for the Urdu category. The Reliance and BSNL companies are launching this service from 1st June, 2008.
