PEREIRA WADI DEMOLITIONS . CAMPAIGN FOR JUSTICE TO CONTINUE TILL SUCH TIME THEIR HOMES ARE RESTORED



URGENT PRESS STATEMENT.

Ms Priya Dutt- Member of Parliament , visits the Pereira Wadi Residents to-day and assures all help to redress their grievances. Will take this matter up with the Chief Minister immediately.

The Bombay Catholic Sabha, Sahar Citizen Forum, Bombay East Indian Association, H West Federation, St John Baptist Church Save Committee have planned a Solidarity March on Saturday, June 14 at 5.00 p.m. which will begin from Pereira Wadi.

Ms Priya Dutt , Member of Parliament visited the site of the Pereira Wadi demolition today and met with the Residents whose homes were demolished.

Ms Priya Dutt listened to the various complains of the residents and the manner in which the demolition took place in the most inhuman manner and the the brutality exercised by the Authorities including the Police on the poor residents.

She expressed shock in the manner in which the demolitions were undertaken.

Ms Dutt spelled out her course of action saying that she would meet with the Chief Minister at the earliest to sort out this unfortunate incident.

The first priority she said was to restore the homes. Secondly, any development should be undertaken thereafter only in consultation with the Residents.

When Residents, who have already been terrorised , scared and worried mentioned to her the threat of further demolitions, she stated, please call me when the demolition team comes in and I will be physically present to prevent the demolitions.

Residents have expressed a sense of confidence that justice will finally be done to them.

In the meantime, The Bombay Catholic Sabha, Sahar Citizens Forum, Bombay East Indian Association, H West Federation, St John Baptist Church Committee have demanded that the homes should be restored by June 13.

These organisations have planned a Solidarity March on Saturday, June 14 at 5. p.m. from Pereira Wadi.Thousands of citizens from all over Mumbai will gather for a long march all over Bandra to press the demand for justice to these victims who have been rendered homeless
